2. I made up a little story which I thought might be entertaining. Hopefully, this might lead others to know what I am thinking. The first story is true. The next is a romantic dream. There is a lot of writing here in a small area. Truckers seem to be the last remnants of the old world west. There is somewhat of a time warp going on here. As most people within the last 50 years have become part of the cookie-cutter, something about this group seems to hang on. Something here came to rest shortly after World War II and literally froze in time, while the rest of world moved on. I am speaking of the non-obvious part of male truckers. I remember several years ago just before the turn of 2000, I was in Blythe, CA in a non-chain fast food place somewhere when I spotted a guy who was 6' 2" wearing boots and had the looks of a capable family man. I didn't say anything like "You are cute", but asked him if he was married. This was apparently taken as a friendly gesture. "You are cute" is a challenge - challenges require fabricated responses. He grabbed a chair and walked over to sit down. We talked for a few minutes while he told me a little about trucking and talked about the stuff I suppose most truckers talk about
